The International Student Formation Makes Its Debut at the Opening Ceremony of the School Sports Meet

On the morning of October 23, the 62nd Autumn Sports Meet of our university was grandly opened at the Yaohu Stadium. For the first time, 60 international students from 24 countries and 9 colleges formed an International Student Formation and made an appearance at the opening ceremony, showcasing the charm of diverse cultures.

Accompanied by cheerful rhythms, the international students, dressed in distinctive national costumes and holding their national flags alongside the Chinese flag, marched forward with firm steps and loud slogans—Joint Consultation, Joint Construction, and Shared Benefits—as they approached the rostrum, instantly igniting the enthusiasm of the entire venue. Subsequently, they performed the Eight-Section Brocade together with a thousand Chinese students, interpreting the connotation of a community with a shared future for mankind amidst the soothing and melodious music.

This is my first time participating in such a grand event. Practicing the Eight-Section Brocade with a thousand people was incredibly fun and made me feel the charm of unity, friendship, and cultural exchange, said Bai Xihua, a Russian student, excitedly. Ali, a Pakistani student, remarked, Marching past the rostrum with my national flag held high under the watchful eyes of all teachers and students was the proudest and most thrilling moment for me.

At this school sports meet, 15 international students participated in the 9th Wushu Championship (Routines). Yin Yuhan, a student from Madagascar, won first place in both men's Group A 75kg Sanda (Chinese kickboxing) and Five-Step Boxing, while Tang Tian secured first place in women's Group A 52kg Sanda.
