University rings in new year with vibrant multicultural showcase by faculty and students

On the evening of December 24, 2025, the “2026 New Year Gala for Chinese and International Faculty and Students” lit up the university’s Music and Art Plaza. More than 200 teachers and students from home and abroad gathered to share the stage in laughter and celebration, ready to embrace the coming year.

The gala opened with spirited drumbeats as “Auspicious Lions Bring Blessings” leapt to the stage—a performance by international students from the Tai Chi Culture Workshop, whose lively rendition of this traditional folk custom instantly ignited the atmosphere.
Chapter Ⅰ: Harmony in Rhythm · Arts of the East

This segment highlighted the fusion of Eastern aesthetics. A student from Madagascar delivered an ethereal vocal interpretation of a Chinese classic, while a faculty dance team presented a graceful piece inspired by the misty charm of Jiangnan, as if stepping out of a painting. Blending the fluid movements of Tai Chi with the resonant rhythms of Peking Opera, the chapter vividly illustrated the idea of “beauty in diversity” through a rich audio-visual experience.
Chapter Ⅱ: Winds of Harmony · Celebrating Across Continents

A vibrant Mexican folk dance and a rhythmic traditional performance from Madagascar took the stage, smoothly transitioning into an adorable Hanfu showcase by children of various nationalities. The cheerful clatter of clappers and elegant Eastern dance moves soon transformed the show into a joyous display of “shared beauty,” offering a lively picture of cultural exchange.
Chapter Ⅲ: Resonance in Harmony · A Symphony of Youth

Colorful traditional costumes shimmered as Western instruments intertwined with Eastern melodies. The dance “Harmony in Song” used arms as brushes and steps as ink, sketching a poetic vision of coexistence. Closing with the warm, unifying notes of “We Are Family,” the gala built to an uplifting finale.
International students attending for the first time shared that the event was not only a multicultural feast for the senses but also a profound, immersive lesson in artistic education. Whether performing or observing, each felt deeply moved by the power of art and the warmth of campus community. In the new year, they expressed readiness to continue walking forward together in China, building a brighter future side by side.
