"Scholarly Jiangxi, Blossoming Translations" Reading Event Attended by Our International Students

On April 13, the international communication event titled Scholarly Jiangxi, Blossoming Translations – Let the World Meet Jiangxi in the Hometown of Xu Yuanchong was held at the Tengwang Pavilion scenic area in Nanchang, sponsored by Jiangxi Daily Group and Jiangxi Newspaper Media Group. Twenty international students from our university, together with students from Nanchang No. 2 High School, dressed in traditional Hanfu and recited timeless classics in chorus, expressing their love for reading and deep affection for Jiangxi in their own unique ways.

At the event, 35 Chinese and international students presented bilingual recitations of literary classics translated by the renowned translator Xu Yuanchong, and recited the Chinese and English versions of the Tang Dynasty poem Looking at the Waterfall of Mount Lu. Zhang Xingyue, a student from Madagascar, shared her heartfelt story of how she developed a passion for reading and expressed her aspiration to use translation as a bridge to tell China’s stories to the world. Later, the students walked into the historic Tengwang Pavilion, where they recited selected passages from Preface to the Prince Teng’s Pavilion in unison, immersing themselves in the enduring charm of Chinese culture within its millennia-old literary heritage.

This event, with reading as a bond, built a platform for in-depth exchange and mutual learning between Chinese and international students, promoted the dissemination of China’s outstanding traditional culture on the international stage, and demonstrated our university’s active role in strengthening people-to-people exchanges and fostering cross-cultural understanding.
