1. Opening a bank account, exchanging or withdrawing money

1)      Opening an account: After arriving at the university, foreign undergraduate, graduate or language students should take their passport and entrance letter to the Yaohu branch of the China Construction Bank to set up an account. This branch is located at the south west corner of the campus where Ziyang Avenue and Tianxiang Avenue intersect. It is about 300 meters south of the second bridge.

2)      Exchanging money: Money can be exchanged at the Yaohu branch of the China Construction Bank, located where Ziyang Avenue and Tianxiang Avenue intersect (The south west corner of campus).

3)      Withdraw money: The first floor of the No. 2 dormitory has a China Construction ATM where money can be withdrawn. The No. 13 dormitory has a China Development Bank and China Transportation Bank to withdraw money. The No. 12 Dormitory has a China Agriculture Bank.

2. Shopping

    Supermarkets can be found in the following places: Changshengyuan building second floor, No. 4 Cafeteria second floor, the campus supermarket across from the No. 1 Cafeteria, and the campus supermarket in the corridor of Building No. 13.

3. Going to the hospital

    You must bring your passport when going to the hospital. For most situations the campus hospital should be sufficient for your needs. If the matter is more serious, you can go to a larger hospital such as the No. 2 Provincial People’s Hospital, the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University and the Second Affiliated Hospital etc.

        Foreign students must purchase comprehensive insurance, which is used to pay for medical fees in the case of an accident. The campus emergency’s phone number is 88120120. For more serious situations, you can also directly call the public emergency’s phone number at 120.

4. Photography Shops (for getting passport type photos taken.)

        The first floor of the Changshengyuan building as well the No.1 dormitory both have photography shops to get pictures taken.

5. Transportation

1)      Taking a taxi: The starting price is 8RMB (within 2km), afterwards the price becomes 2.3RMB per km.

2)      Public bus: The second bridge entrance (Wangcheng gate) has bus 208. Directly across from the third bridge (Changsheng gate) has buses 220 and 308(at night). If traveling to the Qingshan Lake campus, you can take the 208 outer or inner routes, bus 220 or a taxi to get there.

3)      Subway: Take the No.1 line subway by entering at the Tianxiang avenue station (the south western outer corner of campus).The subway here can travel to the city center (The starting price is 2RMB).

4)      Traveling by bicycle in the city is safe and convenient. You can buy a bicycle at almost any shopping plaza.

6. I have an international driving license so can I ride a motorcycle in China?

        This is not possible. Only after receiving the “motorcycle license of the People’s Republic of China”, it is possible to ride a motorcycle in Chinese mainland.

7. Sports Facilities

        Campus sports facilities include: running tracks, soccer fields, volleyball courts, badminton courts, and basketball courts etc.

8. School Library

        The school library (information center) has a vast supply of resources such as an especially large supply of electronic periodicals and e-books. Furthermore, the library has many nice reading rooms that are favorable for studying, which are very popular among the students. Often during exam time it is difficult to find a seat in these places.
