1. What kind of student needs a certificate of good health?

All foreign students studying in China must take and pass the physical health examination for foreigners (known as the “health certificate)

2. I previously did a health test. Do I still need to take this examination?

If you passed a health examination within the previous six months’ time, please take all original copies of this examination to an authorized Chinese doctor for verification. If these documents pass the verification process, please pay 60RMB for evaluation fees to obtain your certificate of good health. If the health exam has no missing sections or other incomplete areas you will be required to complete these parts which may result in additional payments ranging from 80-500RMB.

3. How long is the validity period for this health certificate?

The health certificate is valid for a period of six months from the date of issue. After six months, the health certificate may no longer be used for applying for a resident permit.

4. I haven’t done a health examination in China yet so what shall I do?

You can do a health exam in Nanchang. The total cost is 500 RMB.

5. I did not arrive at the school on time so how can I do the health examination by myself?

Go to the Jiangxi Emigration and Immigration Health Examination Bureau (Jiangxi International Tourism and Health Center) to do the health examination anytime between Monday and Friday 8:30-11:00am.

6. What should I be aware of when getting my health examination done?

You should be on an empty stomach when you begin the examination. Bring your original passport, photocopy of passport, two additional pictures, original photocopies of any health exams done in the past six months, and 400 RMB.

7. When can I pick up my health certificate?

  If the health certificate you did previously before coming to China is complete and accurate, you can pick up the Chinese certificate of health immediately after verification. Please give the certificate to the authorized teacher. If you did a part or the entire health examination in Nanchang, then the authorized staff would pick up your health certificate 3 days after you completed the examination. Students who did not participate in the group health examination would have to go by themselves to pick up the certificate of health.
